Information, not advice, a quote or an offer

• Not advice. What this site shows is general information and the result of calculations on the numbers you give it. It is not legal, financial, tax, engineering or procurement advice for your account.
• Not a quote. No page on this site shows a price you can buy at. State and utility prices are averages across every commercial customer, published by the U.S. Energy Information Administration. A real offer depends on your account and is a separate matter.
• Not an offer to supply or to act. Nothing here is an offer to sell you electricity, to act as your agent, or to switch your supplier. Whether you can choose a supplier depends on your state, your utility territory and your account, and is confirmed from the account itself.

Accuracy of figures and estimates

Prices come from published government data, and the most recent months are preliminary and can be revised. Estimates of what a building uses or pays come from a 2018 federal survey of whole buildings and are ranges, not measurements of any building. The calculation engine behind the tools has not yet been checked against a large set of real bills, and the methodology page says what each figure is and what it is not. We work to keep the site accurate and we correct errors in the open, but we do not promise that it is complete, current or free of mistakes.

Your decisions

You are responsible for decisions you make using this site. Check what matters against your own bill, your filed tariff and your contract, and take advice from a qualified professional before you act on something that is costly or hard to undo.

Acceptable use

• Use the site lawfully and in good faith.
• Do not attempt to break, probe or overload the site, or to get around its protections.
• Do not submit information that is false, that is about someone else without their permission, or that you have no right to send.
• Automated access that follows the site's robots.txt is welcome. Access that harms the service is not.

Content and data

The state and utility figures come from the U.S. Energy Information Administration and the building figures from its Commercial Buildings Energy Consumption Survey. EIA publishes them in the public domain and asks for an acknowledgment. The datasets we publish on the data page may be used freely with credit to EIA and to this site. Apart from those, the text, design and code of this site belong to HAUSE, and you may quote them briefly with a link back.

We link to sources and to other sites. We do not control them and are not responsible for what they say or do.

Disclaimers and limits

The site and its tools are provided as they are and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage, including lost savings, profit or business, that comes from using the site or relying on its figures. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.

Changes

We may update these terms and will change the date at the top when we do. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
