What matters for a business account

Yukon Energy’s schedule directory separates hydro and diesel contexts and government from non-government service. It also lists riders and general-service categories. A commercial account therefore needs more context than a territory name and an energy unit price.

Record the serving utility and the exact schedule on the statement. A rate table for a government account should not be assumed to describe an independent business. Review applicable riders together with the underlying schedule so that an adjustment is neither omitted nor counted twice.

A remote or seasonal operation should retain its service area, operating months and demand information when preparing a budget. Public information can identify the documents to read, but it does not determine the eligibility of a particular meter or guarantee the cost of a future connection.

Your Yukon bill-review checklist

  1. Distinguish government and non-government schedules.
  2. Confirm hydro or diesel service context and serving utility.
  3. Read applicable riders with the base schedule.

Turn the statement into a useful calculation

Record the billing period and electricity consumption in kWh. Use the billed demand from the statement where a demand charge applies; do not assume average consumption identifies the peak. Enter the fixed and variable components in their published units, and identify which adjustments are already included.

The Canadian calculator lets you declare energy blocks, billed demand, any included demand allowance, fixed charges and a tax assumption. Its subtotal is a model of those entries. It does not select your tariff, decide whether a business qualifies, reproduce every rider or certify a billing error.

When comparing two periods, record changes in operating hours, production, occupancy, heating and equipment. Those observations help explain a movement in consumption without inventing a market price or assuming an error. Keep the actual account and source documents privately with your business records.

The publication and the account’s terms control applicability. A provider directory is not a province-wide offer or a guarantee that the same tariff applies to another meter.

Questions business owners ask

Is the base energy charge enough to budget a Yukon business?

No. Account type, service context, fixed or demand charges and applicable riders may materially affect the invoice. Use the full current schedule for the actual account.

Which Yukon Energy schedule applies to a non-government business?

Yukon Energy lists 2160 General Service Hydro, 2260 General Service Small Diesel, 2360 General Service Large Diesel and 2460 General Service Old Crow Diesel for non-government customers. Which one applies depends on the community and the service.

What is Rider F?

Rider F is the Fuel Adjustment Rider. Yukon Energy lists it among its riders and publishes a quarterly Rider F report and rate advisory.

Are these business tariffs or residential examples?

This guide is written for commercial bill review. Actual eligibility and charge inputs must come from the account’s business schedule. Residential examples and U.S. state averages are not substituted for it.
